We drove from Ottawa to Toronto and decided to take a slight detour to visit the Algonquin National Park, seeking some autumnal views of the trees.

It’s a massive park with a road running nearly 60km through it with various trails and viewpoints along the way.

The park was a joyous explosion of colours, even if not quite at its autumnal peak.

Finally, we arrived in Toronto just in time for a lovely meal on my birthday.

We liked Toronto, it’s an engaging city with lots to see.

We went to the St Lawrence Market, a lovely place for shopping and eating great food!

We also visited a small, artificial beach by Lake Ontario called Sugar beach park.

The stunning and iconic Flatiron building below.

We drove to Niagara Falls, which is only 90 mins from the city.

Niagara falls are an awesome sight, their scale and power is very impressive.

The biggest waterfall is Horseshoe falls, with a drop of nearly 60 metres.
It is also the most powerful waterfall in North America with about 1 million bathtubs of water pouring over it every minute!
There is a boat ride that takes you very close to the falls for those willing to brave the water.

There is also a Behind the Falls experience which is fun, you travel down a lift and along a tunnel to see the falls close up.

There are two portals where you can see the water crashing down from a safe distance.

There is also a viewing platform where you can get a great view, and get a little wet.

The water flowing down stream runs at over 20 mile per hour.

As we left we could see a rainbow in the falls.

The town is set up for the visitors with many restaurants and entertainment areas.

So that was our few days in Toronto, one of Canada’s great cities.

Next we head to Montreal for our final stop, our Canadian road-trip is sadly nearing its end.
