We crossed the land border into Nicaragua from Costa Rica, a little unsure of what awaited us.
Our three weeks here has been great, we have encountered a land of lakes, volcanoes, pristine empty beaches and a very friendly people.
Our first stop was the beach town of San Juan Del Sur.
A short distance from San Juan Del Sur is the wonderful Isla Ometepe, an island straddled by two volcanoes and sat within the largest lake in Central America.
We left behind the island to head to Granada, known as one of the best preserved colonial cities in Central America.
From Granada we headed north to another great colonial city, Leon.
After a fabulous time in Nicaragua we head to El Salvador by boat.
