After just under a month in East Africa we headed off to The Seychelles for some island time.
Set some 1,500km to the east of the African mainland, the Seychelles is actually an archipelago consisting of over 150 islands, set in the Indian Ocean.

We only had time to visit the main island, Mahe, and that was everything you might imagine a tropical island might be.
We would have loved to check out some of the other islands but we will have to add that to the bucket list for now.

We stayed on Eden Island, a man made extension to Mahe with 4 wonderful beaches and a series of boat harbours for residents.

The colour of the water is stunning, looking near glacial with a turquoise hue.

We hired a car to take a drive around the Island, it’s not that big and can be circumnavigated in around 3 hours.

There are so many beautiful beaches here, most of them empty!

We spotted a church nestled up to the sea with a small cross set out at sea.

Just sumptuous classic tropical beaches at every turn!

There are some big hotels on the island and we passed a handful, but there are very few visible structures along these picture perfect beaches.

After a while you get accustomed to such perfection, oh yeah, another beautiful beach!

We spotted this concrete building below hugging the coastline, like some James Bond villain’s home, left unfinished and slowly being reclaimed by nature.

Along the roadside fisherman sell their catch.

The capital is Victoria, a contrast to the beach towns given it’s many commercial buildings and large port area.

Back to our little piece of heaven on Eden Island.

Our little taste of the Seychelles was perfect, I think we may be back to explore further!
Next stop is Mauritius for our Christmas and New Year’s location.
