After a stopover in Hogsback to break up our journey from Lesotho we headed to St. Francis Bay.
St. Francis Bay is a small coastal town in the Eastern Cape, not too far from Port Elizabeth, it’s also where my sister lives.
We had a week’s down time to catch up with family and plan our route to Cape Town and then on to Namibia.

The town is blessed with a lovely coast line with white sand beaches.

We did a couple of hikes along the coast, one ending with me winning the wet T-shirt competition due to a freak rain downpour!

But the walks are fabulous and well worth the effort, just check your weather app first!

I managed to get a game of golf with Paula, my sister.

We decided to go for a fishing trip from the local harbour.

Jacqui was soon reeling in some fish.

One of the other fishers caught this beauty which we put back into the sea.

I managed to catch a couple of fish too…

I even caught a small Pyjama Shark, actually a catshark and a protected species. I declined to hold it (!) and it was quickly and safely released back into the sea.

A lovely week and soon enough we had a plan for our next steps.
Next we head to Plettenberg Bay, just a couple of hours along the coast heading along the Garden Route and closer to Cape Town.
