We planned 12 days in Namibia, a country we had heard a lot about on our travels across Africa.
Namibia is one of the most sparsely populated countries in Africa.
After 106 years of German and South African rule it became independent in 1990. The influence and impact of this can still be seen today.
We hired a 4×4 car given the destinations we planned to visit and the variety of roads we would soon encounter.
Our first stop was to Sossusvlei, a world renowned desert area with some of the largest sand dunes in the world.

We then drove to Namibia’s Atlantic coast to visit Swakopmund, encountering our first salt roads.

Our final stop was to an area in Damaraland called Twyfelfontein, yet another beautiful destination in Namibia.

Namibia has easily entered my top 10 destinations, it’s unique, dramatic and varied landscapes are a treat for any visitor wanting an outdoor adventure with a willingness to drive a 4×4 vehicle.
If that fits your agenda, just do it, you won’t be disappointed!
